Photos from a rainy Open Garden

My logical mind 'told' me not to consider the weather when scheduling my open garden but 'did I listen? No!" Even though it was 55 degrees and rainy outside, some dear Portlanders came to visit - we're a tough lot! Thank you for visiting!!

Editing the Garden

As the weather cools, I look forward to transplanting and planting in the garden. I'm relieved that, this year, does not bring huge changes, just fine-tuning edits. I've begun with the removal of Bergenia 'Pink Butterfly' and Begonia 'Million Kisses' and replaced with Pieris 'Cavatine' and purple Tradescantia. The Tradescantia is an annual that I'll remove before frost.

I've also planted 4 Trachelospermum jasminoides along the fence line, cut back the lily stems and pruned the Azara which created more space in the planting bed, brings attention to the trunks of the Trachycarpus fortunei and allows more light to reach the jasmine along the fence line.
